As of October 1, 2024, New Zealand will increase the cost of our tourism tax. This is known as the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL), and it is included in the NZeTA fee.
This is from $35NZ to $100NZ.
“Increasing the IVL means we can continue to grow international tourism to support economic growth while ensuring international visitors contribute to high-value conservation areas and projects, such as supporting biodiversity in national parks and other highly visited areas and improving visitor experiences on public conservation land,” says Mr Doocey (NZ Minister for Tourism and Hospitality).
Please note:
If a visitor pays the $35 fee now before the 1 October 2024, it is valid for future travel. The paid IVL fee is valid for two years from the processed date.
*Visitors that are exempt from the requirement to pay the IVL include New Zealand and Australian citizens and permanent residents, diplomats and people from many Pacific Island countries.
